Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
There's no complex setup required for your Birkenstock Madrid Big Buckle Mules. Simply slip them on.
- Initial Fit: When you first try them on, ensure your heel sits flush in the heel cup and your toes aren't touching the front rim. The `narrow fit` is designed for slimmmer feet, so confirm it feels snug but not restrictive.
- Adjust the Buckle: Use the large buckle to adjust the strap for a comfortable and secure fit across your foot. It should hold the mule gently in place without being too tight.
- Break-in Period: Wear your mules for short periods initially, gradually increasing wear time. This allows the cork footbed to slowly mold to the unique shape of your feet, maximizing comfort.
Compatibility
- Size: This specific pair is UK size 7.
- Fit: Designed with a `narrow fit`, which is intended for feet with a narrower profile.
- Gender/Age: Suitable for adult females.
- Use: Ideal for casual wear, warm weather, and indoor use. Less suited for rugged terrain or prolonged exposure to moisture.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and maintain the appearance of your leather Birkenstock mules.
- Leather Uppers (100% Leather):
- Cleaning: Wipe regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt. For deeper cleaning, use a dedicated leather cleaner suitable for smooth leather. Follow the product instructions.
- Conditioning: Periodically apply a leather conditioner to keep the leather soft and prevent drying or cracking.
- Protection: Use a water and stain protector specifically designed for leather to guard against spills and moisture.
- Cork Footbed (100% Cork):
- Cleaning: Gently brush off dirt and debris. For stains, use a very lightly dampened cloth with a mild soap solution, but avoid saturating the cork.
- Avoid Water: Do not submerge or expose the cork to excessive water, as it can damage the material.
- EVA Sole (100% EVA):
- Cleaning: The sole can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- General Tips:
- Drying: If your mules get wet, allow them to air dry naturally away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Storage: Store them in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or hot cars for extended periods, as this can dry out the leather and potentially damage the cork.
