Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Getting your Fossil Scarlette ES5388 ready for use is straightforward:
- Setting the Time: Gently pull out the crown (the small knob on the side of the watch case) to the furthest position. Rotate the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the hands display the correct time. Push the crown back in fully to start the watch.
- Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to the first position (halfway). Rotate the crown until the correct date appears in the date window. *Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can interfere with the date change mechanism.*
- Bracelet Adjustment: If the bracelet is too loose or too tight, it may require professional adjustment (adding or removing links). Visit a qualified jeweler for this service.
Compatibility
This watch is designed for general daily wear. Its classic styling ensures it's compatible with a wide range of personal styles and wardrobes, from professional attire to casual wear.
Care Instructions
Proper care will ensure the longevity and appearance of your watch:
- Cleaning: Wipe the case and bracelet regularly with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stainless steel, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one. Avoid harsh chemicals, soaps, or abrasive materials.
- Water Exposure: While water-resistant up to 50m, it's best to avoid prolonged exposure to water, hot water (e.g., hot tubs, saunas), or steam. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in before any water exposure. Do not operate the crown or pushers (if present) while the watch is wet or underwater. Rinse with fresh water after swimming in chlorinated or salt water.
- Temperature Extremes: Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperature changes or direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can affect battery life and internal components.
- Storage: When not wearing the watch, store it in a cool, dry place, ideally in its original box or a soft pouch, away from magnetic fields.
- Battery Replacement: The Quartz movement is powered by a battery. When the watch stops, have the battery replaced by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.
