The O'Neill Basic Skins Short Sleeve Rash Guard is an essential piece of apparel for surfers, swimmers, and paddleboarders looking for reliable sun protection and comfort in the water. Featuring high-quality 4-way stretch polyester, it provides UPF 50+ UV protection and a performance fit that stays close to the body, though users should be aware that the snug cut may feel restrictive for those who prefer a loose, casual shirt fit.

Yes, the performance fit is specifically designed to be worn under wetsuits, impact vests, or harnesses to prevent chafing.
Yes, it is rated UPF 50+, which blocks 98% of harmful UV radiation.
It is designed for a performance fit, meaning it should sit snugly against the skin without restricting movement.
It is recommended to hand wash in cold water to maintain the integrity of the fabric and the elasticity of the fit.
While it works in pools, chlorine can be harsh on fabric. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly with fresh water immediately after use.
Polyester blend fabrics can stretch over time. Ensure you are rinsing with cold water rather than hot, as heat can break down the elasticity.
Ensure the garment is rinsed of all salt and sand crystals, as these act as abrasives against the skin during movement.
To ensure your rash guard lasts for many seasons, follow these maintenance guidelines. After every session, rinse the garment thoroughly with fresh, cool water to remove salt, chlorine, and sand, all of which can degrade the polyester fibers over time. Always air dry the guard in the shade, as direct, prolonged sunlight can eventually damage the fabric and cause the colors to fade. Avoid using harsh detergents or bleach, and do not iron or dry clean the item. For storage, fold the garment neatly or lay it flat rather than hanging it for long periods, which can cause the fabric to stretch out of shape.
