Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Using your Regatta Stormbreak Jacket is straightforward:
- Donning the Jacket: Simply put on the jacket over your clothing. Ensure the full zip is completely open for ease of wear.
- Fastening: Pull the full zip upwards to secure the jacket. For optimal weather protection, ensure the zip is fully closed.
- Hood Use: If rain begins, pull the integrated hood over your head. No adjustments are typically needed, as it's designed to offer basic head coverage.
- Cuffs: The elasticated cuffs will naturally conform to your wrists, helping to seal out wind and rain.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed as a waterproof shell and performs best in:
- Rainy Conditions: Ideal for light to moderate rain due to its Hydrafort waterproof fabric and sealed seams.
- Mild to Cool Temperatures: As it lacks insulation, it's best suited for conditions where you don't require significant warmth. For colder weather, layer appropriate fleeces or thermal tops underneath.
- Outdoor Activities: Perfect for walking, hiking, camping, dog walking, and daily commuting where rain protection is key.
Care
Proper care will prolong the life and maintain the performance of your waterproof jacket:
- Washing: Machine wash according to the label's instructions, typically at 30°C with a gentle cycle. Use a technical wash designed for waterproof fabrics, or a small amount of liquid detergent. Avoid fabric softeners as they can impair waterproofing.
- Drying: Drip dry naturally away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry unless specifically indicated on the care label, and even then, use a low heat setting.
- Ironing: Do not iron.
- Bleaching: Do not bleach.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew.
- Reproofing: Over time, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish may wear off, causing water to 'wet out' the fabric surface. If this occurs, clean the jacket and apply a suitable DWR reproofing product (spray or wash-in, follow product instructions).
