FAQs
Is the Salomon XT-6 fully waterproof?
Yes, this version includes a GORE-TEX membrane, making it fully waterproof for wet trail or urban conditions.
Can I use these for running?
The XT-6 is designed as a high-performance trainer and is suitable for trail running and light athletics.
How should I clean the GORE-TEX membrane?
Clean the exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or solvents that can damage the waterproof coating.
Does the shoe provide good arch support?
The XT-6 features a stable chassis that offers neutral to supportive arch alignment suitable for most users.
How do I know if the fit is right?
You should have about a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe to prevent impact during descents.
Are these suitable for hot weather?
While breathable, the GORE-TEX membrane is primarily designed for moisture protection and may feel warmer than standard mesh trainers in high heat.
Troubleshooting
Moisture inside the shoe
Ensure the anti-debris collar is pulled snug and check for any punctures in the mesh that may have bypassed the GORE-TEX layer.
Lacing system feels too tight
Adjust the quick-lace toggle to distribute pressure more evenly across the midfoot rather than pulling only from the top.
Build-up of dirt in the lugs
Use a stiff-bristled brush to dislodge packed mud from the sole unit after heavy use to maintain maximum traction.
Pros and Cons
Pros

Cons
- Technical design may be considered too utilitarian for some casual users
- Waterproof membrane may feel warmer than non-waterproof mesh versions
- Requires initial break-in period for maximum comfort
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Salomon XT-6 trainers remain in peak condition, follow these care guidelines:
- Cleaning: Remove loose debris after each use with a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap; avoid soaking the shoes or using a washing machine, as this can degrade the waterproof membrane.
- Drying: Air dry the trainers in a well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can damage the adhesive and technical materials.
- Fit: The XT-6 is designed for a performance fit; ensure you wear appropriate performance socks to maximize the benefits of the waterproof liner.
- Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place to prevent the breakdown of the sole unit over time.
