The GORE-TEX® waterproofing provides excellent protection against wet conditions. However, these shoes are not insulated for extreme cold. For winter hiking in freezing temperatures, consider adding thermal socks or looking for insulated winter hiking boots.

The Speed Strike 2 GORE-TEX® features 100% recycled materials in its laces, webbing, mesh lining, and footbed cover. The removable EVA foam footbed is 50% recycled.

Yes, the EVA foam footbed is removable, allowing you to replace it with your own custom orthotics or different insoles if desired.

Use a soft brush to remove loose dirt, then wipe with a damp cloth. For tougher mud, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by rinsing with clean water. Always air dry.

These shoes offer a faster, more athletic style and are generally lighter than traditional hiking boots. They provide good waterproofing and traction but may offer less ankle support for very rugged terrain.

The Merrell sticky rubber outsole is designed for grip, but performance can vary on extremely slick or oily surfaces. Ensure the outsole is clean from mud or debris. For exceptionally challenging conditions, consider terrain-specific footwear.
