Product Information

Full details

The Vitus E-Escarpe is an all-mountain eMTB designed for riders who prioritize nimble, responsive handling over a heavy enduro-style platform, making it the perfect choice for singletrack and daily trail laps. By pairing the award-winning geometry of the original Escarpe trail bike with the powerful Shimano EP801 motor, this bike delivers an efficient climbing experience and a playful feel on technical descents. One notable caveat is that it is engineered specifically for trail agility, meaning it may feel less stable than specialized long-travel enduro brawlers when tackling the most extreme downhill terrain.

FAQs

Can I use the E-Escarpe for Enduro racing?

While it is a capable all-mountain bike, it is designed for trail riding and agility. It is not specifically built as an enduro brawler for extreme terrain.

How long does it take to charge the 630Wh battery?

Charging times can vary based on the charger output, but you should typically plan for several hours for a full charge from empty.

Is the motor waterproof?

The Shimano EP801 system is weather-sealed to handle trail riding in wet conditions, but you should never submerge the motor or use a pressure washer.

Can I tune the power delivery of the motor?

Yes, the Shimano EP801 system allows for tuning the assist characteristics and power delivery through the Shimano E-Tube smartphone application.

Is the bike suitable for beginners?

Yes, its balanced geometry and intuitive power delivery make it a very approachable platform for riders transitioning to eMTBs.

Troubleshooting

Motor assistance feels inconsistent or cuts out

Check the speed sensor magnet alignment on the rear wheel and ensure the motor firmware is updated via the E-Tube app.

Brakes lack initial bite or feel mushy

Check brake pads for wear and perform a hydraulic bleed to remove any trapped air from the lines.

Unexpected battery drain

Ensure you are using an efficient assist mode for the terrain and check tire pressure, as low pressure increases rolling resistance and motor load.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely nimble and responsive handling compared to traditional eMTBs
Intuitive motor assistance that can be tuned to personal preference
Balanced chassis excels at both climbing efficiency and downhill fun
Reliable Shimano components minimize maintenance headaches

Cons

Not intended for heavy-duty enduro racing or massive drops
Less travel than dedicated 'big hit' gravity bikes
Internal battery requires frame-based charging logistics

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To get the most out of your E-Escarpe, ensure your suspension sag is set according to your body weight (ideally 25-30% for an all-mountain setup). The Shimano EP801 system can be customized via the Shimano E-Tube app; use this to adjust assist profiles to match your local trail conditions or battery life requirements. Regular maintenance should include checking the chain wear on your 1x12 drivetrain, bleeding the hydraulic disc brakes if lever feel becomes spongy, and ensuring the battery contact points are kept clean and free of debris. Always store your bike in a cool, dry place to protect the integrity of the 630Wh battery, and avoid using high-pressure water sprayers near the motor or pivot points.
