The Cromar GRP Roofing Raised Edge Trim is an essential component for professional roofers and DIY enthusiasts installing flat GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) roofing systems. Its primary function is to act as an upstand at the roof perimeter, effectively channeling water runoff and preventing leaks at vulnerable edges. While this trim provides superior protection and a clean aesthetic finish, it requires precise installation technique and specific adhesives to ensure a watertight, long-term bond.

It is used at the perimeter of GRP roofs to create an upstand that directs water runoff away from the roof edge.
Cromar PU trim adhesive is recommended for the best results.
Apply 30mm beads of adhesive at 300mm centres on the timber battens.
While it is designed for GRP systems, it is intended to provide a physical edge; however, it is best paired with GRP resin and matting for a fully integrated system.
Ensure trims are overlapped correctly and sealed with an appropriate GRP-compatible joint sealant.
Ensure the timber surface was clean and dry; re-apply using fresh PU adhesive if initial adhesion failed.
Check the roof pitch and ensure the trim is properly leveled to allow gravity to direct water toward the intended drainage points.
Use a GRP compatible sealant and overlapping method to ensure the joint between trim lengths remains watertight.
For successful installation, ensure your timber battens are securely fixed and clean. Cromar recommends using Cromar PU trim adhesive to secure the trim. Apply the adhesive in 30mm beads at 300mm centres directly onto the battens before bedding the trim down. Once placed, press the trim firmly into the adhesive to create a uniform bond. After installation, wipe away any excess adhesive immediately. To maintain the trim, periodically inspect the seal between the GRP trim and the roofing membrane to ensure no gaps have developed over time due to thermal expansion.
