Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
- Gather Components: Ensure you have your Dremel rotary tool, the Dremel Mandrel 407, and the 120 Grit Sanding Band.
- Attach Mandrel: Insert the shank of the Dremel Mandrel 407 into the collet of your Dremel rotary tool and tighten the collet nut securely using the collet wrench.
- Mount Sanding Band: Loosen the screw on the top of the Mandrel 407 slightly. Slide the Dremel Sanding Band over the rubber drum of the mandrel. The band should fit snugly but not be forced.
- Secure Band: Tighten the screw on the Mandrel 407. This expands the rubber drum, securing the sanding band in place. Gently tug on the band to ensure it's firmly seated before operation.
Compatibility
These sanding bands are designed for use with all Dremel rotary tools that can accept a 3.2mm shank diameter. Crucially, the Dremel Mandrel 407 is required for these sanding bands to function. Without it, the bands cannot be attached to your tool.
Care & Maintenance
- Cleaning: To maintain optimal performance, remove any accumulated dust or debris from the sanding band after use. A stiff brush or compressed air can be used. Avoid using liquids directly on the abrasive surface.
- Storage: Store sanding bands in a dry environment to prevent degradation. Keeping them in their original packaging or a dedicated accessory case will protect them from damage.
- Replacement: Replace the sanding band when the abrasive surface becomes worn or loses its effectiveness to ensure consistent results and prevent damage to your workpiece. Continuing to use a dull band can lead to uneven sanding and overheating.
