Minerva Core Range Aesha Satin Fabric - Navy Blue

This fabric is excellent for evening wear, formal dresses, skirts, blouses, decorative home textiles like cushion covers, and as a high-quality lining material for garments and accessories.

While possible, its satin finish and medium weight might not be ideal for traditional quilting which often benefits from crisper cottons. It could be used for decorative quilt accents or linings.

It is recommended to machine wash the fabric on a gentle cycle at 40°C with a mild detergent. Air dry or tumble dry on low heat. Pre-washing helps to remove any finishing agents and pre-shrink the fabric.

As a 100% polyester fabric, it offers less breathability compared to natural fibers like cotton or silk. For garments intended for very warm weather or prolonged wear, consider its breathability in relation to your project needs.

Fabric is sold by the metre. Measure your project requirements carefully, adding extra for pattern matching, seam allowances, and potential shrinkage after pre-washing.

A fine, sharp sewing machine needle is recommended, such as a universal needle in size 70/10 or 80/12. A microtex or silk needle can also work well.

Handle the fabric gently. Ensure your sewing machine needles are sharp and appropriate for delicate fabrics (size 70/10 or 80/12). Use a walking foot or roller foot to prevent fabric bunching and snagging.

Always pre-wash fabric before use to allow for any shrinkage. If shrinkage occurs after construction, ensure washing is within the recommended 40°C limit and consider air drying instead of machine drying.

Check that your sewing machine needle is new, sharp, and correctly inserted. Ensure you are using the correct needle type and size for polyester satin. Thread the machine correctly and ensure the bobbin tension is properly set.

Ensure you are using a mild detergent and washing at the recommended 40°C. Avoid excessive tumbling in the dryer. Ironing on a low heat setting with a pressing cloth can help restore sheen.
