Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Use
No complex setup is required. Simply wear the jacket over your desired base and mid-layers. For optimal performance, ensure the hood and hem adjustments are snug to seal in warmth.
Compatibility
- Layering: The jacket's regular fit is designed to accommodate various base and mid-layers, from thin summer base layers to thicker winter fleeces. Experiment with your layering system to find the ideal combination for your activity and conditions.
- Harnesses & Backpacks: The dual-sided rear hem adjustment is specifically designed to sit comfortably above a climbing harness or under a backpack hip belt, preventing bunching and ensuring full mobility.
Care Instructions
To maintain the performance and longevity of your Rab Cirrus Alpine Jacket, especially its PrimaLoft® insulation and DWR finish, follow these guidelines:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle using a technical cleaner designed for synthetic insulation and DWR-treated fabrics. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or fabric softeners, as these can damage the DWR and insulation.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting with a few clean tennis balls to help loft the insulation. Ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing to prevent mildew and maintain insulation performance.
- DWR Reactivation/Reapplication: Over time, the DWR finish may lose effectiveness. You can often reactivate it by tumble drying on low heat after washing. If water no longer beads on the fabric, consider using a spray-on or wash-in DWR treatment specifically for technical outerwear.
- Storage: Store the jacket clean and dry, ideally hanging or loosely folded, in a cool, dry place. Avoid compressing it for extended periods, as this can reduce the loft of the synthetic insulation.
- Zippers: Periodically clean zippers and apply a zipper lubricant if they become stiff or difficult to operate.
