Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup
Your Belstaff Racemaster Jacket is ready to wear straight out of the box. Simply put it on and adjust the closures for a comfortable fit.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed for versatility. Its classic cut in UK size 40 allows for:
- Layering: Wear comfortably over a t-shirt, long-sleeve top, or a light to medium-weight sweater depending on the climate.
- Seasonal Use: Suitable for mild to cold weather when layered appropriately, thanks to its wind and water-resistant properties.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care is crucial for maintaining the weatherproof properties and longevity of your waxed cotton jacket. Do not machine wash or dry clean.
- Cleaning: For general dirt or mud, allow it to dry, then brush it off. For tougher spots, use a damp, lint-free cloth and cold water to gently wipe the affected area. Avoid using soap or detergents, as these can strip the wax.
- Drying: Always allow the jacket to air dry naturally in a cool, well-ventilated space. Keep it away from direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as these can damage the wax.
- Re-waxing: Over time, the waxed finish will naturally wear down, reducing its waterproofing. We recommend re-waxing your jacket periodically (e.g., once a year or as needed based on use) using a specialized Belstaff wax dressing. This process restores its protective qualities and classic appearance. Follow the instructions provided with the wax product carefully.
- Storage: Store your jacket in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Avoid folding it tightly for extended periods; hanging it is preferable to prevent creases in the wax.
