Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Properly adjusting your Hikelite 28 ensures maximum comfort and efficient weight distribution:
- Unpack and Loosen: Remove the backpack from its packaging and loosen all straps: shoulder, sternum, and hipbelt.
- Load Your Gear: Pack your items, placing heavier objects closer to your back and centered to maintain balance.
- Wear the Pack: Put on the backpack. Ensure the hipbelt pads are centered on your hip bones.
- Adjust Hipbelt: Tighten the hipbelt first. It should be snug and comfortable, bearing 70-80% of the pack's weight.
- Adjust Shoulder Straps: Pull the shoulder straps down to bring the pack close to your back. They should be snug but not tight, carrying the remaining weight.
- Adjust Sternum Strap: Fasten the sternum strap across your chest, adjusting its height and tension for added stability and to keep shoulder straps from slipping.
Compatibility
- Users: Designed for adult, unisex hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
- Activities: Ideal for day hikes, short treks, casual walks, and travel where a 28-liter capacity is sufficient.
- Gear: Suitable for carrying daily hiking essentials, including water bottles, snacks, layers of clothing, a first-aid kit, and personal items.
Care
Proper care extends the life of your backpack:
- Cleaning: Hand wash only using mild soap and cold water. Gently scrub soiled areas with a soft brush or cloth. Do not use bleach or harsh detergents. Rinse thoroughly.
- Drying: Air dry the backpack completely in a shaded, well-ventilated area. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, or expose to direct sunlight or high heat.
- Raincover: After use in wet conditions, remove the integrated raincover, clean it if necessary, and ensure it is fully dry before storing it back in its pocket to prevent mildew.
- Storage: Store your clean, dry backpack in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
