Product Information

Full details

The DOS Second Edition is a fast-paced shedding card game perfect for families and groups of 2 to 4 players looking for a fresh take on classic competitive card play. Its primary benefit lies in the updated, simplified rules and dynamic action cards that keep every round unpredictable and engaging. While it is highly accessible for ages 7 and up, players should note that the core gameplay requires quick color and number matching, which may present a learning curve for very young children.

FAQs

How many players can play DOS Second Edition?

The game is designed for 2 to 4 players.

What is the recommended age for this game?

The game is recommended for players aged 7 and older.

Are batteries required?

No, this is a traditional card game and requires no batteries or electronic components.

How many cards are included in the box?

The deck contains 112 cards in total.

Can I combine this with the original DOS deck?

While technically possible, it is recommended to stick to one set of rules to keep the game flow consistent as per the Second Edition instructions.

What happens if I cannot make a move?

If you cannot play a card on either of the two discard piles, you must draw a card from the draw pile.

Troubleshooting

Players are confused about how to play on two piles.

Remember that you can play on either pile during your turn. If you match a number, you clear it; if you match a color, you may receive bonuses as noted in the rulebook.

The game feels too fast for younger players.

Consider playing a 'cooperative' variant or allowing younger players to keep their hands visible to others until they get comfortable with the strategy.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Simplified, updated rule set compared to the original
  • High replay value due to strategic action cards
  • Compact and portable for travel
  • Supports a wide age range from children to adults
  • Quick round times maintain player interest

Cons

  • Maximum of 4 players limits large group participation
  • Requires significant table space for two discard piles
  • New rules may confuse players familiar only with original UNO

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setting up DOS Second Edition is straightforward: shuffle the 112-card deck thoroughly and deal the appropriate number of cards to each player as per the included instructions. Place two cards from the deck in the center to create the two starting discard piles. No assembly, batteries, or app connections are required, making it a truly 'plug and play' experience. To maintain the life of your deck, always store the cards in the provided box when not in use, avoid folding them, and ensure your hands are clean before playing to prevent the cards from becoming sticky or stained over time.
