The Antora 4 is designed for trail walking and light hiking. It is not intended for technical mountaineering or high-exposure rock climbing.
You should have approximately a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe to account for foot swelling during movement.
It is not recommended to machine wash these shoes, as the agitation and heat can degrade the cushioning and waterproof seals. Hand washing is the preferred method.
Merrell does not label all versions as vegan. Please check the specific material tag on your product, as some components may contain leather or animal-derived glues.
While the waterproof feature helps in slush and light snow, these are not insulated winter boots and may not provide sufficient warmth in freezing conditions.
Ensure the shoe exterior is clean, as mud and debris can clog the waterproof membrane. Re-apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray if necessary.
Adjust the lacing pattern to use the top-most eyelet for a 'heel lock' or 'runner's loop' to secure the ankle area.
Check that you are wearing moisture-wicking synthetic or wool socks rather than cotton, and consider swapping to an insert that matches your arch type.
To ensure the longevity of your Antora 4 shoes, verify that the laces are tightened evenly to distribute pressure across the top of the foot. These shoes are compatible with most standard orthotic inserts if additional arch support is needed. For maintenance, remove loose debris after every hike using a soft brush. If the shoes become heavily soiled, clean them with lukewarm water and a mild soap, ensuring they air-dry naturally away from direct heat sources like radiators, which can damage the waterproof membrane and adhesives.
