FAQs

What kind of finish does this lipstick have?

The MAC Macximal Satin Lipstick has a smooth satin finish, providing a luxurious and non-drying look.

Is the color long-lasting?

While formulated for comfortable wear and intense color, satin lipsticks generally require reapplication after eating or drinking, as they are not designed to be transfer-proof or ultra long-wearing.

How can I make the color last longer?

For extended wear, you can apply a matching lip liner all over your lips as a base before applying the lipstick. Blotting your lips with a tissue after the first application and then applying a second coat can also help prolong wear.

Is this lipstick hydrating?

This lipstick is formulated for comfortable wear, which implies it's not overly drying. However, it is not specifically marketed as a hydrating lipstick.

What does the "Stone" shade look like?

The "Stone" shade is a sophisticated brown, offering a versatile and classic look that can complement various makeup styles and skin tones.

Can I layer this with other lip products?

Yes, the MAC Macximal Satin Lipstick can be layered with other lip products. You can use a lip primer underneath, a lip liner for definition, or a clear or colored gloss over it for added shine.

How much product is in one lipstick?

Each MAC Macximal Satin Lipstick contains 3.5g of product.

Troubleshooting

Color not appearing as vibrant as expected.

Ensure lips are clean and dry before application. For increased intensity, apply a second layer, blotting lightly in between. Using a lip primer can also enhance vibrancy.

Lipstick feels dry or emphasizes lip lines/flakes.

Gently exfoliate your lips to remove any dry skin. Apply a hydrating lip balm a few minutes before applying the lipstick, allowing it to absorb fully, then blot off any excess balm.

Lipstick feathering or bleeding outside the lip line.

Apply a clear or matching lip liner around the perimeter of your lips before applying the lipstick. For stubborn cases, a small amount of concealer around the lip line can also help create a barrier.

Lipstick bullet is wobbly or breaks.

Store the lipstick in a cool environment. When applying, do not twist the bullet up too far. Apply gently without excessive pressure.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Delivers a highly desirable, smooth satin finish.
Offers excellent color intensity, often requiring just one swipe.
Provides a comfortable feeling on the lips, suitable for extended wear.

Cons

May require reapplication after meals or drinks, typical for a satin formulation.
The specific "Stone" shade may not universally flatter all individual skin tones.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Prepare Lips: For the smoothest application and best color payoff, ensure your lips are clean and exfoliated. Gently blot off any excess lip balm before application.
Optional Lip Liner: For enhanced definition and to prevent feathering, consider applying a lip liner in a matching or slightly deeper shade around and/or all over your lips.

Compatibility:

This lipstick is compatible with various lip products. You can apply a clear or matching lip gloss over it for added shine.
It pairs well with most makeup looks, from natural to dramatic, given its sophisticated brown hue.

Care:

Storage: Store your MAC Macximal Satin Lipstick in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures to maintain its texture and color integrity.
Handling: Always twist the lipstick bullet down completely before replacing the cap to prevent damage.
Cleaning: If the lipstick bullet accumulates lint or residue, gently wipe it clean with a soft, dry tissue. Avoid using water or harsh cleansers on the product itself.
