Full details
The Saucony Guide TR is designed for female athletes who need a versatile hybrid shoe capable of transitioning smoothly from pavement to light trails. It provides the signature stability and plush cushioning of the Guide series in a ruggedized package, making it an excellent choice for runners who frequent mixed-terrain routes. However, users should note that the 3.5 mm lug depth is best suited for moderate trails rather than technical or highly muddy terrain.

FAQs
Are these shoes waterproof?
No, the Saucony Guide TR is built for breathability and comfort; it is not classified as waterproof.
Can I use these for technical mountain hiking?
These shoes are designed for light trails and road-to-trail use, not for technical mountain scrambling or rugged hiking.
How long should the cushioning last?
Like most running shoes, you can expect optimal performance for 300 to 500 miles, depending on your running surface and body weight.
What is the weight of the shoe?
The weight varies by size, but it is built to remain lightweight for the degree of cushioning provided.
Are these suitable for flat feet?
The Guide series is known for its stability features, which are generally well-suited for runners who require extra support for flat feet or overpronation.
Troubleshooting
Feeling instability on uneven ground
Ensure the shoe is tied securely and consider using the extra eyelet to lock the heel in place.
Mud accumulation in lugs
Once dry, use a stiff bristle brush to knock debris out of the lug gaps after every trail outing.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent hybrid performance for road-to-trail transitions
- Superior stability support for runners
- High level of underfoot cushioning for fatigue reduction
- Reliable traction on varied terrain
- Lightweight construction despite the rugged design
Cons
- Not intended for technical or deep-mud trail conditions
- Higher stack height may feel less stable to those used to low-profile shoes
- Specific lug depth limits deep off-road versatility
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Saucony Guide TR, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: After muddy runs, allow the shoes to dry naturally away from direct heat sources. Once dry, brush off loose dirt with a soft brush.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Submerging these shoes can compromise the adhesive and foam integrity. Hand wash using a damp cloth and mild detergent only.
- Storage: Keep the shoes in a well-ventilated, cool area to prevent odor buildup and foam degradation.
- Fit: Ensure you are using the correct size for your gait; if you feel instability, re-tie the laces using the 'runner's loop' or 'lock-lace' method for a more secure fit at the ankle.
