Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Rack Mounting: Install the included rack-mounting brackets to the switch and secure it in a standard 1U rack space.
- Power Connection: Connect the AC power cable to the switch and plug it into a power outlet.
- Network Connection: Connect your network devices (computers, servers, etc.) to the Gigabit Ethernet ports using Ethernet cables. If using fiber optic connections, connect your fiber optic cables to the SFP ports.
- UniFi Network Application: Download and install the UniFi Network application on a computer or mobile device. Ensure that your network controller is running, either locally or in the cloud.
- Adoption: Within the UniFi Network application, the switch should be detected. Adopt the switch to begin configuration.
Compatibility
The USW-24 is compatible with standard Ethernet devices and fiber optic modules (SFP). Ensure that any SFP modules used are compatible with the switch's specifications (1 Gbps). The switch is designed to work with the UniFi Network application, which runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and is accessible via a web browser or mobile app.
Care
- Ventilation: Ensure that the switch has adequate ventilation. Do not block the vents.
- Cleaning: Use a dry cloth to clean the exterior of the switch. Do not use liquid cleaners.
- Environment: Operate the switch within the specified temperature and humidity ranges (-5 to 40°C, 10-90% humidity).
- Firmware Updates: Regularly update the switch firmware through the UniFi Network application to ensure optimal performance and security.
