Based on Poul Henningsen's iconic 1958 design, the PH5 Mini Monochrome pendant features a monochromatic color scheme that highlights the striking details of the original design while offering a more contemporary look with its diminutive size. Constructed from Poul Henningsen’s celebrated three-shade system, this pendant directs the majority of its light downwards, ensuring glare-free illumination and creating a sculptural effect. This clever design features four shades crafted from powder-coated spun aluminum. The lamp emits a non-glaring downward directed light, while also illuminating its own frame, thus creating a soft, comfortable radiance from within the center of the pendant. Poul Henningsen designed the PH 5 in 1958 as a counter-reaction to the bulb manufacturer’s many alterations to the shape and size of incandescent bulbs at the time, which Henningsen found to be completely senseless. The Louis Poulsen PH 5 lamp is so popular that the Louis Poulsen PH 5 mini hanging lamp was released in 2017. The PH 5 is a true classic! The lamp is made of aluminum.
