Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Installing your Designer Levers Victorian Scroll Door Handles is designed to be straightforward. The pack includes all necessary fixing screws and an 8mm spindle.
- Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has the correct holes for the spindle and fixings. If installing new, drill holes according to standard door handle templates.
- Install Sashlock (if new): If you are also installing a new Euro profile sashlock, do this first, following its specific instructions. Ensure it is correctly aligned.
- Position the Spindle: Insert the 8mm spindle through the door's spindle hole and through the follower of the sashlock.
- Attach Handles: Place one handle onto the spindle and against the door, ensuring the backplate covers the necessary openings. Repeat for the other side.
- Secure Fixings: Use the provided fixing screws to secure both backplates firmly to the door. Avoid over-tightening.
- Test Operation: Check that the handles depress smoothly and return to their original position. Test the lock mechanism with your Euro cylinder key (if installed).
Compatibility
- Door Thickness: These handles are suitable for solid or hollow interior doors with a thickness between `30mm` and `45mm`.
- Lock Type: Designed for use in conjunction with a separate Euro profile sashlock. Ensure your chosen sashlock is compatible with standard Euro cylinders.
- Usage: Intended exclusively for internal doors.
Care
Maintaining the elegant appearance and smooth operation of your handles is simple:
- Cleaning: Wipe clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by drying with a clean, soft cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, chemical solvents, or harsh scouring pads, as these can damage the satin chrome finish.
- Lubrication: If the handle operation feels stiff over time, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the moving parts (e.g., the spindle mechanism inside the handle or the latch mechanism of the sashlock).
