FAQs
Are these shoes only for padel?
While optimized for the demands of padel, they can be used for other court sports that require similar lateral movement support.
How do I ensure I have the right size?
You should have about a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe to allow for foot expansion during play.
Can I put these in the washing machine?
No, machine washing can damage the adhesive and structural integrity of the trainers. Clean them manually with a damp cloth.
What is the primary benefit of the GEL technology?
The GEL technology provides specialized shock absorption in key impact areas, which helps protect your joints during jumps and sudden stops.
Are these suitable for people with wide feet?
The fit is generally standard; if you have particularly wide feet, it is recommended to try them on with sports socks to ensure sufficient width.
How often should I replace my padel shoes?
It depends on frequency of play, but generally, when the tread pattern shows significant smoothing or the cushioning feels less responsive, it is time for a new pair.
Troubleshooting
Feeling instability during sharp turns
Ensure the laces are tightened properly to secure the midfoot and check that the size is not too large for your foot.
Accumulation of dust on court surface inside the tread
Use a soft brush to clear the tread regularly to maintain optimal grip on the court.
Discomfort after long matches
Check that your socks are moisture-wicking and provide adequate padding to complement the shoe's built-in cushioning.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Excellent lateral stability for explosive movements
- Effective shock absorption via GEL technology
- Highly durable construction for court wear
- Comfortable fit for extended play sessions
Cons
- Not intended for non-court sports
- Slightly heavier than minimalist racing trainers
- Available in a specific white colorway that requires regular cleaning
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the best performance from your ASICS GEL DEDICATE 9 shoes, ensure you select the correct UK size for a snug but comfortable fit. The trainers are specifically designed for padel court surfaces; using them on rough outdoor concrete or non-court surfaces may cause premature wear of the specialized tread pattern.
Care Instructions:
- Remove loose dirt or dust with a soft-bristled brush after each session.
- Wipe the upper with a damp cloth and mild soap if needed; avoid submerging in water.
- Air dry the shoes in a shaded, well-ventilated area away from direct heat sources to prevent material warping.
- Remove the insoles occasionally to allow them to dry out fully and prevent odors.
