Product Information

Full details

The Spomb XD Pro Braid is engineered for dedicated carp anglers who prioritize precision and distance when delivering bait via Spomb or spod rocket. Designed with an 8+1 carrier construction, this line offers a remarkably low diameter and supple feel, allowing for smoother casting and reduced air resistance. While it excels at long-range accuracy, it requires careful handling during the clip-up process and necessitates the use of a shock leader to prevent line breakage or reel damage.

FAQs

Does this braid come in different colors?

No, the Spomb XD Pro Braid is currently only available in the grey colorway.

Can I use this for my main fishing line?

While technically possible, this braid is specifically optimized for spodding. We recommend using purpose-built fishing lines for main line applications.

Is a leader mandatory?

Yes, we highly recommend using a Spomb Mono stretch leader to protect your gear and the braid when hitting the clip.

How much line is on the spool?

The spool contains 300 meters of 16lb braid.

What is the best knot for connecting the leader?

The Albright Special or the FG knot are highly recommended for joining thin braid to monofilament leaders.

Troubleshooting

Braid is digging into the reel spool

Ensure the line is wound on under heavy tension. If the issue persists, check that your reel spool is leveled correctly with shims.

Frequent snap-offs at the clip

You are likely hitting the clip too hard without enough shock absorption. Increase the length of your monofilament shock leader.

Wind knots occurring during the cast

This is often caused by overfilling the spool. Remove a small amount of braid to ensure there is a 1-2mm gap between the line and the spool lip.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Ultra-low friction for maximum distance
  • Extremely round profile reduces guide noise
  • Supple texture prevents tangles and wind knots
  • Consistent diameter across the 300m spool

Cons

  • Requires a shock leader for safety
  • Zero stretch can be unforgiving on rod tips if not used correctly
  • Limited to a single grey color option

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Spomb XD Pro Braid, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  1. Spooling: Always spool the line under tension to ensure the braid beds down correctly on the reel.
  2. Leaders: We strongly recommend using a dedicated Spomb Mono stretch leader. Connect this to the main braid using a reliable knot such as the Albright Special or a Slim Beauty.
  3. Cleaning: After use in silty or sandy water, rinse the reel spool with fresh water to prevent grit from embedding into the braid weave.
  4. Storage: Keep the reel in a cool, shaded area. Long-term exposure to direct UV light can eventually degrade the integrity of braided fibers.
