Care Instructions
Proper care is crucial to maintain the performance and longevity of your down jacket, especially its water repellency and insulation. The jacket is made of 90% Polyester and 10% Elastane, and contains down padding.
- Check Label: Always refer to the care label inside your jacket for the most accurate instructions. Specific care for down and water-repellent finishes can vary.
- Cleaning: It is generally recommended to hand wash with a specialized down cleaner or to seek professional dry cleaning services. Avoid conventional detergents as they can strip natural oils from the down and impair its loft and insulating properties.
- Washing Process (if hand washing):
- Close all zippers and fastenings.
- Gently soak the jacket in cool water with a small amount of down-specific detergent.
- Carefully agitate by hand, focusing on soiled areas.
- Rinse thoroughly multiple times until all soap residue is gone. Do not wring or twist.
- Drying: This is the most critical step for down jackets.
- Gently squeeze out excess water without twisting.
- Lay flat on a clean, dry towel or hang on a sturdy hanger in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat or sunlight.
- To restore loft and prevent clumping of the down, tumble dry on a low heat setting with 2-3 clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This process can take several hours. Periodically remove the jacket and fluff the down by hand.
- Water Repellency Re-treatment: Over time, the water-repellent finish may wear off. After cleaning, you may need to apply a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) spray specifically designed for outdoor apparel to restore its water-repellent properties.
