The Gelert Horizon Low WP Walking Shoes provide waterproof protection, which is beneficial in wet cold conditions. However, they are not insulated for extreme cold or deep snow. For optimal warmth in very cold temperatures, we recommend a boot specifically designed for winter conditions.

While the Gelert Horizon Low WP Walking Shoes offer comfort and grip, they are designed specifically for walking and light hiking. For running, especially on trails, we recommend dedicated running shoes that provide specific cushioning, flexibility, and support tailored for running mechanics.

A simple test is to pour a small amount of water over the upper material. If the water beads up and rolls off, the waterproofing is generally intact. If it soaks in or darkens the material, the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment might be diminished, and you might consider cleaning and reapplying a suitable waterproofing spray for synthetic fabrics.

For optimal comfort and to make the most of the shoe's features, we recommend wearing moisture-wicking walking or hiking socks. These socks help manage sweat, reduce friction, and provide additional cushioning, enhancing your overall experience.

While these shoes are designed for immediate comfort, it's always a good practice to wear them for shorter periods initially to allow them to conform to your feet, especially before undertaking longer walks or hikes. This minimizes the risk of discomfort or blisters.

The rugged moulded outsole is permanently attached to the shoe and is not designed to be replaced. However, regular cleaning and proper care can significantly extend its lifespan and maintain its grip performance.

Ensure laces are tied securely to prevent water ingress from the top. Inspect the upper for any visible damage or punctures that might compromise the waterproof membrane. Clean shoes regularly, as dirt can sometimes hinder waterproofing effectiveness. If the issue persists, consider applying a waterproofing spray designed for synthetic footwear.

Check if the insoles are worn out and consider replacing them for renewed cushioning. Ensure you're wearing appropriate walking socks, as thin or ill-fitting socks can reduce comfort. Clean the interior of the shoe to remove any trapped debris.
