Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 41 Gore-Tex is straightforward:
- Lacing: Loosen the laces, slide your foot into the shoe, and then tighten the laces from the bottom upwards. Ensure a snug fit across the midfoot without being overly tight, allowing for natural foot flexion.
- Adjust Fit: Use the lace-up fastening to adjust the tension. The padded tongue and cuff will conform to your foot and ankle for comfort.
Compatibility
- User: These shoes are designed for adult male runners. They are suitable for neutral pronation.
- Activity: Ideal for road running, daily training, tempo runs, and light trail running where weather protection is desired.
- Conditions: Particularly well-suited for wet, damp, or cool weather conditions, thanks to the Gore-Tex membrane.
Care
Proper care will extend the life and performance of your shoes, especially the Gore-Tex membrane:
- Cleaning: Remove excess dirt by brushing them off or rinsing under cold tap water. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap and a soft brush or cloth. Do not use harsh detergents or bleach.
- Gore-Tex Specific Care: After cleaning, rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. It's crucial to avoid machine washing or drying, as this can damage the Gore-Tex membrane and the shoe's structure. Air dry at room temperature; avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight.
- Drying: Stuff the shoes with paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape while drying. Replace the paper towels periodically until dry.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent odor and mildew.
- Re-proofing (Optional): Over time, the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating on the outer fabric may wear off. While the Gore-Tex membrane itself remains waterproof, water might 'wet out' the outer fabric. You can restore this DWR with Gore-Tex approved spray-on or wash-in treatments.
