The filter is safe for capturing images of the sun with your camera's sensor. However, it is not safe to look at the sun directly through the camera's optical viewfinder, even with the filter attached. Always use Live View on your camera's LCD screen or ensure your viewfinder is covered.

While it reduces light, its primary design is for extreme brightness. For most astrophotography, you'll want filters that pass specific wavelengths or reduce light pollution, not general extreme density filters. This ND100000 is generally not suitable for typical deep-sky astrophotography.

The ND100000 designation means it blocks 100,000 times the light, which equates to approximately 16.6 stops of light reduction. Standard ND filters offer much less reduction (e.g., 3 to 10 stops) and are used in less extreme conditions.

You'll need to adjust your shutter speed significantly. For example, if your meter suggests 1/1000s without the filter, with a 16.6-stop filter, you'll need to increase the exposure time by 2^16.6, which is roughly 100,000 times longer. This translates to approximately 1 second (1000s x 100,000 = 100,000,000s, which is not right). A simpler way: if your base exposure is 1 second, adding 16.6 stops means you'll need to expose for 1 second * 100,000 = 100,000 seconds. This calculation is complex and depends on the exact f-stop and ISO. It's often easier to use your camera's meter in Live View and manually increase the shutter speed until the exposure looks correct, or use a dedicated app.

While technically possible, stacking this extremely dense filter with other filters is generally not recommended. It can lead to significant light loss, potential optical degradation, and increased risk of vignetting, especially with wider lenses.

Verify that you have the correct filter thread size for your lens. Ensure there are no obstructions or damage to the lens threads or filter threads.

This is expected behavior in normal lighting conditions due to the extreme 16.6-stop reduction. Ensure you are using this filter specifically for direct sun photography or very bright daylight long exposures. You will need to use a tripod and significantly longer shutter speeds than usual.

Clean the filter surface with a dedicated lens cleaner and microfiber cloth. Ensure the filter is properly seated on the lens. If the issue persists, it may indicate a defect, in which case contact customer support.
