Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Red Wing Iron Ranger boots come ready to wear. Simply unlace them, slip your foot in, and utilize the speed hooks on the upper shaft for quick and efficient lacing. Adjust the laces to a snug but comfortable fit, allowing for natural foot movement.
Compatibility
These boots are designed to fit "comfortably tight" on the foot, with enough room to freely wiggle toes. This snug initial fit is intentional, as the leather and cork midsole will stretch and mold to your specific foot shape over time. For optimal comfort, consider wearing them with mid-weight socks, especially during the break-in period. They are compatible with a wide range of casual and rugged attire.
Care
Proper care is essential to maintain the longevity and appearance of your full grain leather Iron Ranger boots:
- Cleaning: Regularly brush off dirt and debris with a stiff brush. For tougher grime, wipe the boots down with a damp cloth.
- Conditioning: Apply a high-quality leather conditioner formulated for full-grain leather every few months, or as needed, to keep the leather moisturized and prevent drying or cracking. This helps maintain its suppleness and natural luster.
- Protection: Consider using a leather protector spray to add a layer of resistance against water and stains, particularly in wet environments.
- Drying: If your boots get wet, allow them to air dry naturally at room temperature. Avoid direct heat sources like radiators or sunlight, as this can damage and shrink the leather.
- Storage: When not in use, store your boots in a cool, dry place, ideally with boot trees to help maintain their shape and absorb moisture.
