Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting the most out of your New Balance BB80 shoes involves understanding their initial fit, what they pair well with, and how to maintain them.
Setup (First Use)
- Lacing: Ensure the laces are securely but not overly tightly tied. Adjust them to allow comfortable foot movement without slippage.
- Initial Wear: Wear the shoes for short periods initially to allow them to conform to your feet. While New Balance shoes are generally comfortable out of the box, a brief break-in period can enhance overall comfort.
Compatibility
- Apparel: The black BB80 is highly versatile. It pairs well with casual wear such as jeans, shorts, chinos, and even some smart-casual outfits.
- Activities: Best suited for daily wear, urban exploration, light walking, and casual social events. Not recommended for specialized sports like long-distance running, basketball, or intense hiking.
Care & Maintenance
Proper care extends the life and appearance of your shoes:
- Remove Loose Dirt: Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) to gently brush off any dry dirt or mud.
- Spot Clean: Mix a small amount of mild detergent (like dish soap) with warm water. Dampen a soft cloth or sponge with the solution and gently wipe soiled areas.
- Rinse (Cloth Only): Use a separate clean, damp cloth (with plain water) to wipe away any soap residue.
- Air Dry: Allow the shoes to air dry completely at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not machine wash or machine dry.
- Odor Control: Remove insoles periodically and air them out. You can also use shoe deodorizers or baking soda sprinkled inside overnight.
- Storage: Store shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use. Using shoe trees can help maintain their shape.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or strong cleaning agents, as they can damage materials and cause discoloration.
