FAQs
Are the Gabor Wand trainers waterproof?
While the patent leather provides some resistance to light rain, these trainers are not classified as waterproof and should be dried naturally if they become wet.
Can I wash these shoes in a washing machine?
No, machine washing will damage the leather and the structure of the shoe. Clean by hand with a damp cloth only.
What is the primary material of the upper?
The upper is constructed from high-quality, durable patent leather.
Are the insoles replaceable?
Yes, the insoles are removable, making it easy to clean them or replace them with your own orthotic insoles.
Do these shoes come with both zips and laces?
Yes, they feature a hybrid fastening system where you can use the laces to adjust the tension once, and use the zipper for daily on-and-off convenience.
How high is the heel?
The Gabor Wand features a comfortable and stable 3.5cm heel height.
Troubleshooting
The zip fastening feels stiff or sticks.
Check the track for debris and apply a small amount of non-staining wax or graphite to the zipper teeth.
The shoes feel too snug after adding custom insoles.
Ensure the original manufacturer insole has been fully removed before placing your custom orthotic inside.
The patent leather finish is losing its shine.
Use a dedicated patent leather cream or polish specifically designed to restore high-gloss surfaces.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your Gabor Wand trainers remain in peak condition, follow these recommendations:
- Initial Fit: Ensure you are wearing the socks you intend to use with the shoes when testing for the correct fit at the start of your day.
- Insole Customization: If you use orthotics, remove the factory-provided Gabor insole before inserting your custom pair.
- Cleaning: Gently wipe the patent leather surface with a soft, damp cloth. Use a specialist patent cleaner to remove smudges and maintain the high-gloss shine.
- Storage: Keep away from direct heat sources, such as radiators, as excessive heat can cause the leather to crack or lose its finish.
- Fastening Care: Ensure the zipper is kept free of debris to prevent sticking. Use a wax-based lubricant if the slider becomes resistant.
