Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
- Mounting: Attach the saddle to your seatpost using the appropriate clamp. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Saddle Height: Adjust the seat height to achieve proper leg extension while pedaling. Aim for a slight bend in your knee at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
- Saddle Angle: Start with a level saddle. Adjust the angle slightly up or down to find the most comfortable position.
- Fore/Aft Adjustment: Adjust the saddle's position forward or backward to optimize your reach to the handlebars and your pedal stroke efficiency.
Compatibility
The B17 Carved is compatible with most standard seatposts. Ensure your seatpost clamp is designed to accommodate the saddle's rails.
Care
- Leather Treatment: Apply Brooks Proofide leather dressing regularly to keep the leather supple and protected from the elements. Apply a thin layer and allow it to absorb into the leather.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the saddle with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
- Storage: Store your saddle in a dry place when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
- Tension Adjustment: The laced saddle flaps can be adjusted to maintain proper tension as the leather stretches over time. Use the provided tools or follow the manufacturer's instructions for adjustment.
