Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting started with your adidas Originals Handball Spezial trainers is straightforward, but proper care is essential to maintain their premium suede finish.
Setup
- Lacing: Simply lace the trainers to your preferred tightness. Ensure an even lace to distribute pressure comfortably across your foot.
- Break-In: While generally comfortable from the start, a short break-in period may enhance personal comfort. Wear them for shorter durations initially to allow the materials to adapt to your foot.
Compatibility
- Apparel: These trainers are highly compatible with a wide range of casual clothing, including denim, chinos, track pants, and shorts. Their classic aesthetic makes them easy to integrate into many outfits.
- Socks: For optimal comfort and moisture management, pair with breathable, moisture-wicking socks. This helps prevent discomfort and maintain foot hygiene.
Care
Suede Upper Care
Maintaining the suede upper is crucial for the longevity and appearance of your trainers. Suede is delicate and requires specific attention.
- Protection: Before the first wear, apply a high-quality suede and nubuck protector spray. Reapply periodically as per product instructions to create a barrier against stains and moisture.
- Brushing: Use a specialized suede brush to gently remove loose dirt, dust, and light scuffs. Brush in one direction to maintain the nap (texture) of the suede.
- Spot Cleaning: For light stains, a suede eraser can be effective. For more stubborn marks, use a dedicated suede cleaner. Apply the cleaner sparingly to a clean cloth and gently dab the stained area. Always follow the cleaner's instructions and test on an inconspicuous area first.
- Drying: If your trainers become wet, gently blot away excess moisture with a clean cloth. Stuff the shoes with plain paper towels or newspaper to absorb remaining moisture and help retain their shape. Air dry them at room temperature, away from direct heat sources (like radiators or sunlight), which can damage suede.
- Avoid Water: Whenever possible, avoid wearing suede trainers in heavy rain, snow, or excessively wet conditions, as water can stain and damage the material.
Outsole Care
- Wipe the gum rubber outsole with a damp cloth or soft brush to remove dirt and debris. This helps maintain its grip and appearance.
