Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up the Berghaus Vaskye Jacket is straightforward: simply put it on. Ensure the adjustable hood is cinched appropriately for your head size to maximize warmth and protection from wind.
Compatibility
This jacket is designed as a versatile piece for cold weather. It can be worn as an outer layer in dry, cold, and windy conditions. For wet weather, it is highly recommended to wear a waterproof outer shell over the Vaskye Jacket, as its primary function is insulation and wind resistance, not waterproofing. It layers well over base layers and lighter fleeces, and comfortably under hard shells due to its relatively low bulk and packability.
Care
Proper care will maintain the jacket's insulating properties and longevity:
- Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a mild, non-detergent technical wash designed for insulated garments. Avoid using fabric softeners or bleach, as these can damage the synthetic fibers.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low heat setting with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to break up the insulation clumps and restore loft. Ensure the jacket is thoroughly dry before storing to prevent mildew and maintain insulation performance.
- Storage: Store the jacket unpacked in a cool, dry place. Avoid compressing it for extended periods, as this can reduce the loft and effectiveness of the Hydroloft Polyball insulation over time.
- Spot Cleaning: For small marks, gently wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, then rinse thoroughly.
