The Columbia Puffect III Puffer Jacket is an essential outerwear choice for adults navigating cold city environments who need reliable, low-bulk insulation. Its primary benefit is the combination of water-repellent Omni-Shield fabric and synthetic Thermarator insulation, which provides down-like warmth even when the jacket gets damp. One caveat to note is that while it is highly effective for urban commutes and daily wear, it is designed for general cold weather rather than extreme, high-altitude mountaineering conditions.

Yes, it is machine washable. Please refer to the internal care label for specific temperature settings and avoid using fabric softeners.
The jacket features Omni-Shield water-repellent technology, which is great for light rain and showers, but it is not a fully waterproof rain shell.
It uses Columbia’s proprietary Thermarator insulation, which is a synthetic material designed to mimic the loft and warmth of down.
This jacket is primarily designed for urban and casual everyday use. While it provides good warmth, it may lack the technical features required for extreme mountaineering.
The polyester shell provides a balance of protection and breathability suitable for moderate city activity levels.
The Omni-Shield coating may need refreshing. Follow the manufacturer's care instructions for a cleaning cycle, which often reactivates the repellent finish.
Tumble dry the jacket on low heat with clean tennis balls or dryer balls to fluff the synthetic fibres back to their original loft.
Ensure the fabric surrounding the zipper path is clear and use a dedicated zipper lubricant or a graphite pencil to smooth the track.
Because this is a ready-to-wear garment, there is no technical setup required. To ensure the longevity of the Omni-Shield finish, wash the jacket in cold water on a gentle cycle using a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can strip away the water-repellent coating. When drying, it is recommended to tumble dry on low heat with a few clean tennis balls or dryer balls to help redistribute the synthetic insulation and maintain its loft. Always ensure the jacket is completely dry before storing it in a compressed space.
