Setup, Compatibility & Care
Preparation
Before painting, ensure your surface is clean and degreased. For most surfaces, a thorough wipe-down is sufficient. While the paint is self-priming, a light scuff sand with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 220-grit) can be beneficial for very glossy or exceptionally smooth surfaces to enhance adhesion. Always ensure the surface is completely dry and free of dust before proceeding.
Application
Apply the paint evenly using a good quality brush or roller. For a durable and consistent finish, a minimum of two coats is recommended. Allow adequate drying time between coats, typically 2-4 hours, depending on humidity and temperature. Porous surfaces may absorb more paint, potentially requiring additional coats to achieve full coverage and depth of colour. When using multiple tins of 'Wedding Cake' for a single project, it is best practice to intermix the contents of all tins in a larger container before starting to ensure perfect colour consistency across your entire surface.
Compatibility
This paint is specifically formulated for interior use. It is highly recommended for interior furniture but also works excellently on a variety of other indoor surfaces, including:
- Interior woodwork and trims
- Skirting boards
- Doors
- Kitchen cupboards
- Built-in furniture (both wood and laminate)
Care
Once your painted item is fully cured (which can take up to 2-3 weeks for maximum hardness), maintaining its finish is simple. Clean surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the matte finish. For stubborn marks, a mild, diluted household cleaner can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth.
