FAQs

Is this jacket suitable for heavy snow or rain?

The nylon exterior offers some water resistance, but this jacket is primarily designed for warmth in cool, dry conditions. For heavy snow or rain, consider layering with a waterproof outer shell.

What does 'Nuptse' refer to?

Nuptse is a mountain peak in the Himalayas, renowned for its challenging climbing routes. The jacket's design is inspired by The North Face's heritage in mountaineering.

How does the cropped fit differ from a standard fit?

A cropped fit jacket is shorter in length, typically ending around the waist or slightly above. This offers a more modern and relaxed silhouette compared to traditional, longer jackets.

Can I wear this jacket in very cold temperatures?

For moderate cold, it provides good warmth. For very cold temperatures or extreme conditions, it's recommended to layer this jacket over a warm base layer and potentially under a more robust outer layer.

How do I ensure the down stays lofty?

Proper washing and drying are key. Always tumble dry with tennis balls on low heat to help re-distribute and re-fluff the down after washing.

What is the warranty on this jacket?

The North Face typically offers a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Please refer to The North Face's official website for the most current warranty details.

Troubleshooting

Jacket feels flat or less warm after washing.

Ensure the jacket is completely dry. Run it through a low-heat tumble dry cycle with tennis balls to help break up clumps and restore down loft.

Zipper is difficult to use.

Check for any fabric caught in the zipper teeth. Gently try to free the fabric. Lubricate the zipper track with a graphite pencil or a specialized zipper lubricant.

Down feathers are escaping from seams.

This is normal for down products to a small extent. If excessive, gently pull the feather back through the fabric from the inside or trim any protruding feather with scissors.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Provides significant warmth due to down insulation.
  • Durable nylon construction for longevity.
  • Stylish cropped design suitable for casual wear.
  • Features practical elements like flap pockets and adjustable cuffs.
  • Made with recycled materials, offering an eco-conscious choice.

Cons

  • Cropped fit may not provide full coverage for very cold conditions.
  • Nylon exterior can be prone to snagging.
  • Down insulation requires specific care to maintain loft and warmth.
  • May not be suitable for extreme weather without additional layering.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

This jacket requires no setup; it is ready to wear upon purchase.

Compatibility:

This jacket is designed for adult females. It pairs well with various lower garments, including jeans, trousers, skirts, and activewear.

Care Instructions:

To maintain the quality and warmth of your Nuptse Short Jacket:

  1. Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with a small amount of liquid detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners.
  2. Drying: Tumble dry on low heat with clean tennis balls or dryer balls. This helps to re-fluff the down insulation. You may need to run the dryer cycle multiple times.
  3. Storage: Store in a dry place. Avoid compressing the jacket tightly for long periods to preserve the loft of the down.
