The Nike Air Rift is designed for individuals seeking a bold, unconventional aesthetic combined with the unique sensation of barefoot-inspired comfort. Perfect for casual wear and light daily activities, this iconic 1996 revival features a distinctive split-toe design and adjustable straps that offer a personalized, secure fit. While it provides excellent flexibility and a lightweight feel, prospective owners should be aware that the signature split-toe design requires specific socks or barefoot wear, which may take time to get accustomed to compared to standard footwear.

No, standard socks will not fit due to the split-toe design. You will need to wear them barefoot or use split-toe socks.
They were inspired by barefoot running, but they are primarily designed for casual wear and should not be used as primary athletic running shoes.
The Air Rift generally fits true to size, but the split-toe and adjustable straps allow for some flexibility in how the shoe conforms to your foot.
No, the breathable materials used in the upper are not water-resistant and should be kept dry.
The straps are integrated into the design and are not meant to be replaced by the user.
The rubber outsole is designed for durability and should last a long time under normal daily walking conditions.
Ensure you are wearing the correct size and try wearing them without socks to see if the material softens with natural foot oils.
Check the hook-and-loop fasteners for trapped lint or debris; clean with a small brush to restore adhesion.
Spot clean only with a damp cloth; avoid abrasive scrubbing brushes which can fray the upper fabric.
To ensure your Air Rifts perform their best, start by adjusting the midfoot and heel straps to match your specific tension preference. Because of the split-toe construction, you must either wear them barefoot or purchase split-toe socks, as standard socks will not fit. For care, keep the shoes away from heavy mud or harsh terrain to protect the flexible upper materials. Clean the exterior by wiping with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid machine washing or drying, as high heat and mechanical agitation can compromise the adhesive and the structural integrity of the specialized split-toe architecture. Always air dry in a shaded, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
