Setup
- Hardware Installation: Install storage drives (HDDs/SSDs) into the drive bays. Follow the instructions in the Synology DS725+ hardware guide. M.2 SSDs can be installed in the designated slots.
- Network Connection: Connect the DS725+ to your network using an Ethernet cable. Use the 2.5GbE port for faster speeds.
- Power On: Plug in the power adapter and turn on the device.
- Software Installation: Download and install Synology Assistant on your computer to find the NAS on your network. Follow the on-screen instructions to install DiskStation Manager (DSM).
- Configuration: Access DSM through a web browser. Set up your storage volumes, user accounts, and shared folders.
Compatibility
The Synology DS725+ is compatible with:
- Storage Drives: 3.5" and 2.5" SATA HDDs and SSDs. M.2 NVMe SSDs for caching.
- Operating Systems: Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Network Protocols: SMB/CIFS, AFP, NFS, FTP, and WebDAV.
Care
- Environment: Operate the DS725+ in a well-ventilated environment, avoiding extreme temperatures and humidity (0 - 40 °C, 5 - 95% relative humidity).
- Dusting: Regularly clean the exterior with a dry, soft cloth to prevent dust buildup.
- Firmware Updates: Keep DSM updated to the latest version for security and performance improvements.
- Backup: Regularly back up your data to ensure data safety. You can use cloud backup, iSCSI LUN, or other backup features included with the NAS.
