FAQs

Are these trainers suitable for running?

While the 2002R offers excellent cushioning, they are primarily designed as lifestyle trainers for everyday comfort and casual wear, not for intense athletic training or long-distance running.

How do I determine the correct size?

It is recommended to consult the New Balance size chart and measure your foot. Trying them on in-store if possible is the best way to ensure a comfortable and accurate fit.

Can I wash these trainers in a washing machine?

No, machine washing is not recommended as it can damage the suede material, cushioning, and overall structure of the trainers.

How often should I clean the suede?

Regular brushing after wear can help maintain the suede's appearance. Deep cleaning or stain removal should be done as needed, using appropriate suede care products.

What is the main difference between the 2002R and other New Balance series?

The 2002R series is known for its blend of retro running aesthetics with advanced cushioning technologies like N-ergy and ABZORB, providing superior comfort for lifestyle wear compared to some other heritage or performance-focused lines.

Are these trainers waterproof?

The standard 2002R model is not waterproof. However, New Balance does offer variations, such as the 'Protection Pack' with GORE-TEX, which provides water resistance.

Troubleshooting

Suede appears dirty or stained.

Use a suede brush to gently remove dry dirt. For tougher stains, consult a specialized suede cleaner and follow product instructions carefully. Test on an inconspicuous area first.

Laces are worn or dirty.

Remove laces and wash by hand with mild soap and water. Allow to air dry completely before re-lacing.

Reduced cushioning feel over time.

The cushioning is designed for long-term durability. If you notice a significant reduction, ensure the shoes are clean and free of debris that might affect the sole's flexibility. For persistent issues, consider replacing the shoes after extensive use.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

These trainers require no specific setup. They are ready to wear out of the box.

Compatibility:

The New Balance 2002R trainers are designed for general adult footwear use and are compatible with a wide range of casual clothing styles.

Care Instructions:

Cleaning Suede: For best results, use a dedicated suede brush to remove dirt and dust. For stains, a damp cloth and mild suede cleaner can be used sparingly. Avoid soaking the material.
Laces: Laces can be removed and hand-washed with mild soap and water.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain colour and material integrity. Use shoe trees to help maintain shape when not in use.
