Product Information

Full details

The On Cloudmonster 2 is designed for adult female runners seeking maximum cushioning and energy return for a variety of road running distances. Its key benefit lies in the supercharged ride provided by the largest CloudTec® cushioning and a responsive nylon-blend Speedboard®, offering a propulsive feel. A potential caveat for some might be the plush cushioning, which could feel less direct for those preferring a firmer ride. This versatile trainer features dual-density Helion™ superfoam, a forefoot foam insert for impact absorption, and an engineered mesh upper for enhanced comfort and a more sustainable construction.

FAQs

What type of runner is the Cloudmonster 2 best suited for?

The Cloudmonster 2 is best for neutral runners who prioritize maximum cushioning and energy return, particularly for road running from 5k distances up to marathons.

How does the cushioning compare to other On running shoes?

The Cloudmonster 2 features On's largest CloudTec® cushioning to date, offering a significantly plusher and more impactful ride compared to shoes like the Cloudswift or Cloudflow.

Is this shoe good for trail running?

While durable, the Cloudmonster 2 is optimized for road surfaces. Its outsole is not designed for aggressive trail traction, so it is not recommended for technical or muddy trails.

What is the heel-to-toe drop of the Cloudmonster 2?

The Cloudmonster 2 has a heel-to-toe drop of 6mm.

How do I clean my Cloudmonster 2 shoes?

Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying. Allow to air dry naturally.

What percentage of the shoe is made from recycled materials?

The Cloudmonster 2 has increased its sustainability with 24% total recycled content.

Can I use these shoes for gym workouts?

While the cushioning is comfortable, the design is primarily for running. For gym workouts, especially those involving lateral movements or heavy lifting, a shoe with more stability might be more appropriate.

Troubleshooting

Shoes feel too tight or loose.

Adjust the lacing technique. For tightness, try a wider lacing pattern or loosening the upper eyelets. For looseness, try a tighter lacing pattern or a runner's loop.

Reduced cushioning or responsiveness over time.

While the CloudTec® and Helion™ foam are durable, performance may decrease with very high mileage. Consider replacing the shoes after approximately 300-500 miles (500-800 km) depending on usage and impact.

Squeaking sound during runs.

This can sometimes occur due to friction between the tongue and the upper, or moisture. Try wearing slightly thicker socks, or ensuring the shoes are completely dry.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Exceptional cushioning for long-distance comfort.
Noticeable energy return and propulsion enhance running efficiency.
Responsive and soft ride suitable for various training paces.
Improved sustainability with increased recycled materials.
Comfortable and breathable engineered mesh upper.

Cons

The plush cushioning might not suit runners who prefer a firmer, more ground-feel experience.
May feel slightly less stable for runners who need significant support for pronation.
The price point may be higher compared to some basic running shoes.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The Cloudmonster 2 requires no specific setup; simply lace them up and go. Ensure you select the correct UK size for optimal fit and comfort.

Compatibility: These trainers are designed for road running and are suitable for neutral runners. They perform best on paved surfaces, asphalt, and well-maintained trails.

Care Instructions:

Cleaning: After runs, remove loose dirt with a soft brush. For deeper cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water. Avoid machine washing or tumble drying, as this can damage the materials.
Drying: Allow the shoes to air dry naturally at room temperature. Keep them away from direct heat sources like radiators or prolonged sunlight.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid cramming them into tight spaces which can deform their shape.
