Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions
These seeds are compatible with most garden soils and growing conditions. For best results, sow seeds directly into the ground after the risk of frost has passed, typically from May to June in most temperate climates. Choose a sunny, sheltered spot.
Sowing:
- Prepare the soil by digging and removing weeds. Ensure good drainage.
- Sow seeds about 5cm (2 inches) deep and 15-20cm (6-8 inches) apart.
- If planting in rows, space rows about 45cm (18 inches) apart.
- Water the soil gently after sowing.
Care:
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells and when flowers and pods are forming. Avoid waterlogged conditions.
- Weeding: Keep the area around the plants free from weeds, which compete for nutrients and water.
- Support: While dwarf varieties, a light stake or support may be beneficial in very windy locations or if the plants become laden with pods.
- Harvesting: Pick beans regularly when they are young and tender. This encourages the plant to produce more flowers and subsequent crops.
