Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Plant the bay tree in a container using good quality compost. Ensure the pot has adequate drainage. Place the container in a sheltered location, ideally near your front or back door, away from cold, windy spots that could scorch its leaves. Water thoroughly after planting.
Compatibility: This tree is compatible with most soil types. It performs best in containers but can also be planted in the ground, provided the location is sheltered.
Care: Water regularly, especially during dry periods, but avoid waterlogging. Feed occasionally with a foliar feed. If you intend to use the leaves for cooking, it is crucial to avoid chemical sprays. Always wash leaves thoroughly before use. Lightly trim the plant through the growing season to maintain its size and shape. New leaves typically emerge in early spring.
