Fill power is a measure of the loft or fluffiness of the down. A higher fill power means the down is more insulating for its weight. 600-fill power indicates good quality insulation, offering excellent warmth.

While the jacket is designed to keep you warm and dry in extreme winter weather, and features hydrophobic Hydrodown® and a windproof Pertex® Quantum outer, it is not fully waterproof. It offers excellent resistance to dampness and light snow, but for heavy rain or prolonged exposure to wet conditions, a separate waterproof shell is recommended.

To maintain the down's loft and performance, store your jacket uncompressed in a cool, dry place. Hanging it on a wide hanger or placing it loosely in a large, breathable storage bag is ideal. Avoid stuffing it into a small stuff sack for extended periods.

While the jacket offers great warmth and is relatively lightweight, its primary function is insulation. For very high-output activities, you might find it too warm, leading to overheating. It's best suited for activities where warmth retention is paramount, such as cold-weather hiking, camping, or stationary outdoor pursuits.

Refer to the brand's official sizing chart. Consider if you plan to wear thick layers underneath; if so, you might opt for one size up from your usual. The jacket is designed to accommodate some layering without compromising warmth.

The down may be clumped together. Ensure the jacket is completely dry by tumble drying on low heat with several dryer balls (tennis balls work) for an extended period, periodically fluffing it by hand.

Check for fabric snags and carefully remove them. Apply a small amount of zipper lubricant (like zipper wax or graphite from a pencil) to the teeth to improve movement.

The Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating may have worn off. Clean the jacket as per care instructions, then apply a spray-on or wash-in DWR re-proofing product, ensuring it's suitable for PFC-free materials.

Some minimal down leakage is normal, especially when new. If it's excessive, check for small tears or loose seams. Avoid pulling feathers out; instead, push them back in from the inside to prevent enlarging the hole.
