Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper setup, understanding compatibility, and consistent care will extend the life and performance of your ASICS Gel-Rocket 12 shoes.
Setup
- Lacing: Ensure your laces are tied securely but comfortably. Experiment with different lacing patterns if you experience pressure points or desire more arch support. A snug fit prevents your foot from sliding inside the shoe during quick movements.
- Break-in Period: While Gel-Rocket 12 shoes are generally comfortable out of the box, it's advisable to wear them for a few shorter sessions before intense play. This allows the shoes to conform to your foot shape and for you to fully adapt to their feel.
Compatibility
- Surfaces: These shoes are specifically designed for indoor court surfaces such as hardwood, synthetic courts, and rubberized gym floors. Their non-marking outsole provides optimal grip without damaging the playing surface.
- Activities: Best suited for sports that require frequent lateral movements, jumping, pivoting, and quick acceleration/deceleration, including volleyball, badminton, squash, and indoor tennis.
Care
- Cleaning: After use, wipe down the shoe's upper with a damp cloth to remove dirt and sweat. For stubborn grime, use a soft brush and a small amount of mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Drying: Always air dry your shoes at room temperature. Remove insoles to allow them to air out thoroughly. Never place them directly on a heater, in direct sunlight, or in a tumble dryer, as extreme heat can damage materials and adhesives.
- Storage: Store your shoes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Using shoe trees can help maintain their shape.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect your laces for wear and replace them if they become frayed. Check the outsole for excessive wear; reduced tread can lead to decreased traction and compromise safety.
