Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing Indoors: Sow seeds indoors from April to May. Use small pots filled with seed compost. Plant seeds about 1.5cm (1/2 inch) deep. Keep soil moist and warm.
Sowing Direct: After the last frost, sow seeds directly into well-drained soil in a sunny location. Plant seeds about 1.5cm (1/2 inch) deep, spaced appropriately for mature plant growth.
Transplanting: Harden off indoor-sown seedlings before transplanting them outdoors into their final growing positions. Ensure adequate spacing to allow for full growth.
Growing Conditions: Provide support such as stakes or netting for the vines to climb. Ensure plants receive full sun and are protected from strong winds.
Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Avoid wetting the leaves to prevent disease.
Harvesting: Begin harvesting from July to September. Pick fruits when they reach the desired size. Regular harvesting encourages further production.
Compatibility: Suitable for vegetable plots, raised beds, pots, and patios. It thrives in most garden soil types when provided with adequate sun and water.
