Vegetable-tanned leather is treated using natural tannins found in plants. This traditional process results in a durable leather that ages beautifully, developing a unique patina over time. It is often considered more environmentally friendly than chrome tanning.

Regularly clean with a soft cloth, use appropriate black shoe polish, and buff to a shine. Periodic conditioning will also help maintain the leather's suppleness and finish.

The signature gel comfort insole is integrated into the shoe for maximum support and is not designed to be removed.

While the leather is durable, vegetable-tanned leather can be susceptible to water marks. It is advisable to protect the shoes with a water-repellent spray and avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

The key difference lies in the lacing system. Derby shoes have an 'open lacing' system where the shoelace eyelet tabs are sewn on top of the vamp, while Oxford shoes have a 'closed lacing' system where the eyelet tabs are sewn underneath.

Conditioning frequency depends on usage and environment. Generally, conditioning every 3-6 months is recommended to keep the leather healthy and prevent it from drying out.

Apply a suitable leather conditioner designed for vegetable-tanned leather. Allow it to absorb, then buff gently.

Use a matching black shoe polish or cream to cover minor imperfections. Buff the area thoroughly to blend the repair and restore shine.

Wear the shoes for short periods initially to allow them to break in. Ensure the correct size has been selected, as an ill-fitting shoe will not become comfortable.

Allow the shoes to dry naturally away from heat. Once dry, attempt to gently buff out the marks with a soft cloth. Conditioning may be necessary afterwards.
