FAQs
Are the Nike Shox TL suitable for running?
While the Shox TL offers responsive cushioning, it is primarily designed as a lifestyle and casual walking shoe. For dedicated running, especially long distances or high-intensity workouts, specialized running shoes that offer specific support and flexibility for running mechanics are generally recommended.
How do I clean my Nike Shox TL sneakers?
For the mesh and synthetic upper, gently wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Use a soft brush for the outsole and Shox columns. Always air dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Avoid machine washing.
What is the benefit of the Shox technology?
The signature Shox columns provide unique, responsive cushioning by compressing and rebounding with each step, offering a smooth and distinctive feel. They also contribute to the shoe's iconic visual aesthetic.
Do these shoes run true to size?
Nike Shox TL sneakers generally run true to Nike's standard sizing. We recommend ordering your usual Nike size. However, fit can vary slightly by individual foot shape.
What materials are the Nike Shox TL made from?
The upper is constructed from durable synthetic and textile materials, predominantly Polyester mesh, with a supportive TPU cage. It features a foam midsole and a rubber outsole for traction and durability.
Can I wear these in wet weather?
The mesh upper offers breathability but is not waterproof. For wet weather, your feet may get damp. It's best to avoid prolonged exposure to heavy rain or puddles to maintain the shoe's condition.
Troubleshooting
Squeaking sound from the sole
This can sometimes occur due to friction between parts of the shoe or if moisture gets trapped. Try sprinkling a small amount of baby powder or cornstarch under the insole to absorb moisture. If the sound persists, it may be due to the manufacturing process and might diminish with wear.
Laces feel too loose or too tight
Utilize the toggle lacing system to adjust the tension. Pull the toggle up to tighten, or press the release button to loosen. Experiment to find the perfect fit for your foot, ensuring comfort without restriction.
Foot feels hot or sweaty
The airy mesh upper is designed for breathability. Ensure you are wearing appropriate socks (e.g., moisture-wicking athletic socks). If discomfort continues, consider taking breaks from wearing the shoes for a few hours.
Shox columns appear dirty or scuffed
Gently clean the Shox columns with a soft brush or cloth moistened with mild soap and water. For minor scuffs, a rubber eraser can sometimes help lift marks from the synthetic material. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Getting Started (Setup)
Setting up your Nike Shox TL sneakers is straightforward:
- Unpack: Remove the sneakers from their packaging.
- Adjust Lacing: Use the toggle lacing system to loosen the laces sufficiently to easily slide your foot in.
- Secure Fit: Once your foot is comfortably inside, pull the toggle to tighten the laces until you achieve a secure, comfortable fit. Ensure it's not too tight to restrict circulation or too loose to cause slippage.
Compatibility
These sneakers are designed for:
- Casual Wear: Ideal for daily outings, commuting, and lifestyle activities.
- Walking: The cushioning system is well-suited for extended periods of walking.
- Urban Exploration: Their durable build and comfortable fit make them great for city environments.
They are not primarily designed for high-impact sports, intense running, or activities requiring extreme agility or lateral support, where specialized athletic footwear might be more appropriate.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care will extend the life and appearance of your Shox TL sneakers:
- Cleaning the Upper: For the Polyester mesh and synthetic overlays, gently wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Cleaning the Shox Columns/Outsole: Use a soft brush (like an old toothbrush) and mild soap to clean dirt from the rubber outsole and the Shox columns. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Drying: Always air dry your sneakers at room temperature. Avoid direct sunlight or artificial heat sources, as these can damage materials.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
- Avoid Washing Machines: Do not put your sneakers in a washing machine or dryer, as this can damage the materials, adhesives, and cushioning system.
