Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup Instructions
Setting up your Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad is straightforward:
- Charge and Pair: Connect the included USB-C to Lightning Cable from your Mac's USB-C port to the Lightning port on the back edge of the keyboard. This will simultaneously charge the keyboard and establish an initial wired connection for pairing.
- Turn On: Ensure your keyboard is switched on. The power switch is located on the back edge of the keyboard.
- Automatic Pairing: Your Mac should automatically detect and pair with the keyboard. Follow any on-screen prompts.
- Disconnect for Wireless Use: Once paired, you can disconnect the cable to use the keyboard wirelessly via Bluetooth. It will automatically reconnect when in range and powered on.
Compatibility
This Magic Keyboard requires a Mac operating system to function fully. While it may connect to other Bluetooth-enabled devices, full feature functionality, including specific multimedia keys and Touch ID (if applicable to a variant), is only guaranteed with macOS.
Care and Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and performance of your Magic Keyboard:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth, slightly dampened with water, to gently wipe down the keys and aluminium surface. Avoid abrasive materials, aerosol sprays, solvents, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide, as these can damage the finish.
- Avoid Liquids: Keep liquids away from the keyboard to prevent internal damage.
- Charging: Use only the provided USB-C to Lightning Cable or a certified equivalent for charging.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the keyboard in a clean, dry place.
