Yes, they are designed for race day performance and offer the energy return necessary to support runners throughout marathon distances.
You should have about a thumb's width of space between your longest toe and the front of the shoe to account for foot swelling during long runs.
While durable, the Deviate Elite 4 is optimized for speed; for daily training, some runners prefer a more cushioned, less aggressive model.
Typically, racing shoes like the Elite 4 maintain optimal foam performance for 200–300 miles, depending on your running style and intensity.
No, they are designed with lightweight, breathable materials which are not waterproof, though they handle wet road conditions well due to the PUMAGRIP sole.
Adjust the lacing system to a 'runner's loop' or heel-lock configuration to increase tension around the ankle.
Ensure you are using the shoes primarily on road or track surfaces, as gravel and rugged trails can accelerate wear on racing outsoles.
To ensure the longevity of your PUMA Deviate Elite 4, verify that you have selected the correct UK sizing for your foot shape. Before your first race, perform a 'break-in' run of 10-15 miles to allow the foam to compress and the upper to adapt to your foot. For care, avoid machine washing or tumble drying, as high heat can damage the foam's integrity. Instead, clean the trainers by wiping them with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Allow them to air dry naturally away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources. Ensure the PUMAGRIP soles are kept clear of debris to maintain maximum traction.
