Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Your Nike Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite FG boots are designed for a snug, performance fit right out of the box.
- Lacing: Loosen the laces sufficiently before putting on the boots. Once your foot is comfortably in, tighten the laces evenly from bottom to top, ensuring a secure but not overly restrictive fit. Double-knot for security during play.
- Break-in Period: While featuring flexible Flyknit, it's recommended to wear the boots for a few light training sessions before a full match. This allows the materials to mold to your foot shape, optimizing comfort and performance.
Compatibility
These boots are specifically engineered for Firm Ground (FG) natural grass pitches. Using them on artificial turf (AG) or soft ground (SG) surfaces can lead to premature wear of the soleplate and studs, and may also increase the risk of injury. Always match your boot type to the playing surface.
Care
Proper care extends the lifespan and maintains the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning: After each use, remove loose dirt and mud with a soft brush (like a toothbrush) or a damp cloth. For stubborn stains on the Gripknit upper, use a mild soap solution and a soft cloth, then wipe clean with a damp cloth.
- Drying: Never dry your boots in direct sunlight or by using artificial heat sources (e.g., radiators, hairdryers). Stuff them with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape, then allow them to air dry at room temperature.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use harsh detergents, bleach, or solvents, as these can damage the synthetic materials and special coatings.
