Setup, Compatibility & Care
First Use and Lacing
Upon receiving your Nike Phantom GX 2 Elite FG boots, take a moment to try them on and adjust the lacing. Ensure a snug, secure fit that doesn't feel overly tight or loose. Properly tied laces prevent foot movement inside the boot, which can cause discomfort or reduce performance.
Compatibility: The Right Surface
These boots are strictly designed for Firm Ground (FG). This means they are optimized for natural grass pitches that are dry or slightly damp. Using them on artificial turf (AG), extremely soft ground (SG), or indoor surfaces will not only diminish their performance but can also lead to premature wear of the studs and potentially void any warranty. Always check your playing surface before wearing your FG boots.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care extends the lifespan and maintains the performance of your boots:
- Cleaning After Each Use: Immediately after playing, knock off any loose mud or grass. Use a soft brush and lukewarm water to gently scrub away dirt from the upper and soleplate. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Drying: Stuff the boots with newspaper or paper towels to absorb moisture and help maintain their shape. Allow them to air dry at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or artificial heat sources (like radiators), which can damage materials.
- Storage: Store your boots in a cool, dry place. A boot bag can protect them from dust and scratches when not in use.
- Avoid Machine Washing: Never put your football boots in a washing machine or dryer.
